BelhavenTonight: Kilt Night with Live Irish Music
Time: 8:30 pm

Good people of Minneapolis and Saint Paul: Don your kilts, your sporrans, your sgian dubhs! Put on the autumn wool and get yourself a pint of Belhaven. Hey: It’s Friday and we’re kilting up Isles-style!

Join us tonight for kilts, live Irish music and plenty of laughs. We love our Fridays; we hope you will too.

Music starts around 9:00. And if you’re interested in tartans and getting your own kilt, whether you’re thinking Scottish, Irish, Cornish, or even the Minnesota Tartan (Yes, there is one!), ask our boy Billy Watkins. He’ll be in the pub. Billy, you see, makes kilts.

NEXT KNIT NIGHT

The Knitters are coming!

Our intrepid and favorite knitters are returning to the pub for their monthly Knit Night on Friday, November 14, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Lovely people and laughs aplenty when they are here. Bring your needles, yarn, even spinning wheels if you wish! Have a pint and make some friends.

These are good ones to have. Cheers!

SCOTTISH WRITERS - NOVEMBER 23

Sunday, November 23, will bring a gorgeous mix of Scottish writers and music to Merlins Rest!

Join us and Minnesota Scottish authors Bill Watkins (A Celtic Childhood, Scotland Is Not for the Squeamish, and The Once and Future Celt), Jack and Barbara Maloney (The Wee Mad Road), Barbara and Jack MacKinnon (Where Rivers Meet) and Audrey McClellan for a bit of books and music fun.

Dunquin will provide the music.

The authors will be discussing their books, Scotland and Scottish life, and all things Scottish! The event will take place from approximately 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

Tonight: Wednesday Night Pub Quiz
Time: 7:30 pm

Join us for a bit of a mid-week drink and think: it’s the Wednesday Pub Quiz. It’s sort of like our Sunday Pub Quiz, only earlier in the week. It’s a double-dose of fun!

The details: 25 questions, 2 points per question (answered correctly), teams of up to four. Charge? Free, of course! That’s how a pub quiz should be. It’s an Isles-style evening in the pub. See you soon!

TOMORROW!
Next Whisky Wench Single-Malt Tasting

The Whisky Wench (Fiona) returns on Thursday, November 6 at 7:30 pm to host the next Single-Malt Whisky Tasting. The details:$25 flat fee to participate; 4 - 5 grand pours from our extensive stock. It’s great fun and really really great scotch.

Voting in MinnesotaTonight: the Folk Jam
Time: 7:30 pm

Exercising one’s Constitutional rights can be thirsty work! So celebrate the day with a bit of evening fun, yer mates here at the pub, a bite to eat, and–of course–a few pints.

We’ve got community music here for you, too: the weekly Folk Jam!

No mics, no amps. Just jamming in a corner of the bar. It’s the people’s music on a day of the people.

And if you’ve yet to vote, please remember two things: (a) Don’t forget to vote! and (b) yer man John Dingley hopes you’ll say yes to clean water. It’s on the ballot.

Tell your friends and enemies! Have a vote and have a toast. Cheers!

November 3: Open Mic

Tonight: Open Mic
Time: 8:00 pm

Right! I’ve got to keep this brief as I’m on a tenuous internet connection in Cologne, Germany. But that doesn’t stop the good times in Minneapolis. Eins, zwei, sofa und slainte!

TONIGHT: OPEN MIC

We start off the week with the Open Mic, hosted by Harrison Matthews. The ever-changing participants of this event deliver an eclectic mix of songs, stories, poems and so forth.

It’s your mic, it’s your talent.

We invite all patrons to join in the community: lend your voice and ears! Raise a pint and start the week with a little creativity.
