Today: Brunch
Time: 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Tonight: Papa John Kolstad and the Hot Club of East Lake
Time: 9:00 pm

What a lovely morning! It seems the weather is heading upwards towards a bit of steaminess, but that’s alright. We’ve got a patio with umbrellas for shade. Sit out, enjoy an afternoon pint, and get a little sun on your toes. Some fish, some chips–that ain’t a bad afternoon.

BUT FIRST…

We’re serving up brunch from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Traditional Irish and British fare, American classics and a few items that are our very own. It’s received rave reviews, friends. Give it a taste.

TONIGHT

And this evening we’ve got Papa John Kolstad and the Hot Club of East Lake providing the jazz. Fantastic stuff from them. They really are a class act and perfect for a Saturday evening.

Music starts about 9:00 pm.

Tonight: Kilt Night with Live Irish Music
Time: 8:30 pm

Happy Friday, everyone! We had a lovely time with the fundraiser last night and it was a pleasure to once again host the Birds & the Beers.

For those of you who would like to donate to Jordan’s run–she’s running in the Nike Women’s Marathon to raise money for Team In Training’s (TNT) work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)–her training website will be up through October. Give it a look, please! She’s a grand soul, and it’s a worthy cause.

KILT NIGHT
with LIVE, TRADITIONAL IRISH MUSIC

I tell you what: we’re feeling up to a hoolie tonight! The Irish session musicians are invited up and will be playing the traditional music. We’ll have our kilts on–and by all means wear yours, if you’ve got one–and we’ll be raising the pints. Happy days, indeed!

lindsaydrummond.gifAnd before I get too carried away with things, let me also mention our good friend Lindsay Drummond who’s in Australia. She’s a fine musician and singer. We just acquired a copy of her album More Than Enough. While she isn’t a traditional Irish singer, hey: she’s a fantastic supporter of Irish and Celtic culture. Cheers to her, and cheers to her latest CD! We’re really enjoying it. Give her a listen at her website. And thanks, Lindsay, for the EP.

Right! Back to it: Kilt Night and Irish music. Keep the stories and the taps flowing, friends! And let the Irish music move your feet. Slainte.

WARHAMMER INVADES THE SOAP FACTORY

soap.jpgOur good friend Fiona, who many of you know as “The Whisky Wench” from our monthly single-malt scotch tastings–coordinates a number of matters over at the Soap Factory, a non-profit visual arts gallery. One of the current installations involves an artist’s sculptural version of the popular game Warhammer.

The artist has invited players of the game to visit the Soap Factory and actually use the art installation for real gaming sessions.

Interested persons and parties must schedule time through Fiona. For more information, please contact the gallery +1 612 623 9176 or email Fiona.

(Special thanks to Chas of MacGregor Historic Games for his assistance with the Warhammer info and link this morning!)

jordan.jpgTonight: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)

Tonight: The Birds & the Beers

Music: Dino & the Dinosaurs

tnt_logo.gif

A silent auction! A raffle! And plenty of stories being told. That’s what’s on tap at 6:00 pm tonight for the Team In Training (TNT) fundraiser we’re throwing in support of our good friend Jordan, who is running in the Nike Women’s Marathon. Funds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Jordan is running in honor of a couple other good friends who happen to be cancer survivors. Your support is welcomed (and encouraged!). Please visit Jordan’s training page to learn more about how you can help.

So join us tonight at 6:00 pm for a silent auction and raffle during which time we’ll all have a pint or two, cheer on Jordan on her efforts, and add a little more financial support for LLS.

See you then!

#2: THE BIRDS & THE BEERS - 6:00 pm

Birding Groups in MinnesotaMinnesota’s own Birdchick (aka, Sharon Stiteler) is hosting the next Birds & the Beers Gathering!

Tonight: Specialist Pub Quiz
Time: 7:30 pm

Happy days, friends! Don’t forget that we’ve got a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fundraiser (silent auction and raffle) on Thursday evening. Read more about it here.

NEXT BIRDS & BEERS GATHERING:
THURSDAY, JULY 24

Over at the Birdchick’s blog (aka, Sharon Stiteler’s site) is news that the next Birds & the Beers Gathering will be Thursday, July 24 at 6:00 pm. Awesome. Even you have even a casual interest in birding, join them. The group is free and fun. Discuss locations for birding, technologies to enhance your experience, documentaries you’ve see, etc. Bird on!

TONIGHT: SPECIALIST PUB QUIZ

John Dingley’s mid-week torture session returns tonight at 7:30 pm: the Specialist Pub Quiz. This is a more focused variety of the general (though occasionally far-flung!) knowledge quiz that the Welsh Bomber delivers each Sunday night.

The details: 25 questions, 2 points per question (answered correctly), teams of up to four. Charge? Free, of course! That’s how a pub quiz should be. Participants get a point for their participation, and those participation points accrue each week and are added to your final quiz score. So if you score 38 and this is your 10th quiz, you have a 48. Why is this important? When someone scores a 50, they win the pot! As John puts up to $40 each week in, it can become quite a bit.

The Folk Jam follows.

See you tonight!
