Tonight: Single-Malt Scotch Tasting with the Whisky Wench

Fiona, aka the Whisky Wench, returns for this month’s single-malt tasting tonight, July 2, at 7:30 pm. Cost to participate: $25/person.

Fiona has sent along a tasting card preview. In thinking of the unusual heat that plagued us much of June, she’s come up with the following, all of which have names we quite like:

#1: Black Bottle

#2: The Dimple Pinch

#3: Compass Box Hedonism - Vatted Grain Whisky

#4: The Naked Grouse

How to cope with this heat? Stay hydrated–and keep in mind that research (and we’re not joking about this) has shown how beer can hydrate better than water, particularly after some exercise–and enjoy some summer favorites here at Merlins Rest: Chicken Wings and a Hummus Platter. Some details:

Chicken Wings

Over a half-pound of our specialty oven-baked chicken wings, cooked to perfection, in spicy Buffalo of BBQ sauce. Served with blue cheese or cool ranch and celery sticks.

Hummus Platter

A healthy serving of Tahini hummus, roasted red pepper or feisty feta (crumbled feta cheese blended with tomatoes, green peppers and spices) served with pita bread, carrots and celery sticks. Your choice of two.

Deluxe Hummus Platter

Can’t choose between the Tahini, roasted red paper and feisty feta? Get them all on the deluxe hummus platter!

WATKINS WEDNESDAY PUB QUIZ

Join us and our friends and their friends and maybe one or two brainy villains as Bill Watkins delivers the Wednesday Pub Quiz! Bill and his feverish brain will provide 25 questions and a great deal of levity. It really is a wonderful time. Bring your friends, your ringers, even your enemies!

Tonight, as every Monday, we start off the week with the Open Mic, hosted by Harrison Matthews. The ever-changing participants of this event deliver an eclectic mix of songs, stories, poems and so forth.

It’s your mic, it’s your talent. We invite all patrons to join in the community: lend your voice and ears! Raise a pint and start the week with a little creativity. Cheers!
