It’s a day of outstanding international culture to kick-off a month of spectacular fun. Tonight, we’ve got our weekly Friday Kilt Night with live Irish traditional music. But first up…
DAY ONE OF THE WORLD CUP!
Come Watch Games on the Big Screen!!
The World Cup has officially kicked off in South Africa, as the host nation takes on Mexico. Some surprisingly fantastic stuff has been interspersed in this one. South Africa has a very raw squad and Mexico is fast but very young. Still, the stadium is loud as South Africa aims to win one for not only the nation but Nelson Mandela, whose great-granddaughter was killed going home from last night’s opening concert. It’s an emotional day at the stadium for many reasons.
This is what the World Cup is about, though. National pride, “the Beautiful Game,” international community and spirit.
Join us for a special 1:00 pm opening today. We’ll show the next game live at 1:30 pm: Uruguay vs. France. Uruguay hold a historic place in the game, as they took home the very first World Cup. They’ll take on perenniel powerhouse France.
Immediately following that live game, we’ll show a taped game.
SPECIAL WORLD CUP HOURS
So join us! From now through the conclusion of the tournament, we’ll have special hours in support of the World Cup telecasts here on the big screen. Monday through Friday, starting today, June 11, we’ll open at 1:00 pm. A live match will be televised at 1:30 pm. Following that, a taped match from earlier in the day.
