February 17: Folk Jam, Birds & a Who

Tonight: Folk Jam
Time: 7:30 pm

It’s Tuesday and the instruments are out! A chilly winter’s day folk jam is here to warm you up!

Join a host of friends up here as they jam without amps or mics. It’s a little thing we like to call the Folk Jam: mandolins, guitars, simple percussion, fiddles, etc. Lovely stuff.

And you might just find our good friend Bill Watkins involved too. (I spotted his legs during WCCO’s coverage of the past weekend’s Scottish Ramble.) Bill has launched a new website: www.keltcom.com.

Please stop by on the internet or right here in the pub and wish him well! Bill is a fantastic writer and designed our pub interior (as well as did some wonderful work on Carmody Irish Pub in Duluth).

February 19, Thursday, 6:30 pm

Sharon Stiteler, who many of you know as the Birdchick, has announced that though she cannot attend, members of the Birds & Beers group will meet her at Merlins Rest on February 19 at 6:30 pm. Birds & Beers is an informal gathering of birders of all ages. If you’re a hardcore lister or a casual backyard birder or someone who just wants to know what this whole birding thing is about, then you’re invited.

21 February 2009
Whovians Unite!

Our friends from the Minneapolis Doctor Who Meetup Group will be in the pub on Saturday, February 21, from roughly 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Whovians unite! We always love to see them. Great fun. Join ‘em if you’ve got even a casual interest in the series (then or now). It’s free and fun.

You might even see an old episode of Dr. Who broadcast on a screen here….

Monday through Thursday

Whether it’s been a hard day or a really lovely one, we invite you up for after work specials here at Merlins Rest. From 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, we’re offering $3.75 import pints; and we’ve got some of the best: Guinness, Belhaven, Fuller’s, etc. Other beer and liquor specials will be available too, as will food specials on cheese dips, lamb chops and more.
