November 11: Folk Jam & Casey’s Story

Tonight: Folk Jam
Time: 7:30 pm

It’s Tuesday and the instruments are out! Join a host of friends up here as they jam without amps or mics. It’s a little thing we like to call the Folk Jam.

The line-up changes week to week, but you can usually find the likes of Roadie, Bill Watkins, Chas and others. Even our dear Whisky Wench (Fiona) might join in.

Regardless, it’s a lovely time. Check it out, and if you’re a musician, you might just one day join the jam. As for the rest of us, it’s fantastic background music as we enjoy our mid-week.

Our good friend Casey Selix of MinnPost was mugged recently here in the Longfellow neighborhood. This was a rather shocking event and has reminded us all to keep a closer eye on one another…and perhaps on our society.

Casey’s story, published at MinnPost, is thought-provoking and well-worth the read. Please give it a look.

And, Casey: we’re so happy that you are on the mend and look forward to seeing you again. Cheers, friend. Thank you for sharing your story.

(Sidenote: Merlins takes safety very seriously and we’re dedicating more time to seeing patrons from the pub to these cars. If you have any concerns or if you see any activity that concerns you in the neighborhood, please let us know; as we are working with our neighbors–businesses and residents–to ensure our neighborhood’s safety.)

Monday through Thursday

Whether it’s been a hard day or a really lovely one, we invite you up for after work specials here at Merlins Rest. From 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, we’re offering $3.75 import pints–and we’ve got some of the best: Guinness, Belhaven, Fuller’s, etc. Other beer and liquor specials will be available too, as will food specials on cheese dips, lamb chops and more. We’re even going to throw in some prize drawings.
