July 11: Knitters, Kilts, Irish Music & a Reading

Tonight: a Reading with Bill Watkins
Time: 7:00 pm
Also: Kilt Night with Live Irish Music
Time: 8:00 pm –

It’s a busy Friday! And it’s loaded with plenty of fun. First up, we’ve got a monthly group of knitters coming into the pub. And maybe you read that and you think, foolishly, that this is some quiet, dowdy pasttime. Alas, they are a gregarious, pint-raising, story-telling lot. We love ’em dearly.

If you have even a mild interest in knitting, feel free to join them. Get to know ’em because they are worth it.

And if you’re up here today between 4:00 – 7:00 pm, you just might see a spinning wheel or three.

Our good friend Bill Watkins will read tonight from his new book The Once and Future Celt at 7:00 pm. Come give a listen, give cheers to the man, and get a copy signed if you like. Special thanks to KFAI for announcing this event.

And, of course, being that it is Friday, we encourage you all to join us for the weekly Kilt Night with Live Irish Music. Music starts after 8:00 pm.

Our live music is done just as it is back in the Isles: local session musicians set up at the front of the pub–gathered simply around a couple tables–and play without microphones and amps. They play as music is best played: unscripted and with musicians working off of one another. It’s an absolute joy.

Great craic and perfect for yer pint. So tell a tale, share a laugh, and get the weekend rollicking. Cheers!
