June 29: Brunch, Sunday Pub Quiz, & Whisky Update

Today: Brunch
Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Music: Tom Bradley

Tonight: Sunday Pub Quiz
Time: 8:00 pm
Music: Sam Fiske (aka Sam’s Sandwich)
Time: 7:00 – 8:00 pm and for 30 minutes after the quiz

We’ve got our Sunday brunch served from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. It features traditional Irish and British breakfasts and classic American fare. Get a cup of coffee with it and kickstart your Sunday.

Music is also provided by Tom Bradley, whose an absolute gem. Give the breakfast a taste and Tom a listen. Share your Sunday morning stories and celebrate the weekend, friends.

John Dingley is at it again tonight. It’s the Sunday Pub Quiz! He’ll call out 25 questions and award 2 points for each correct answer that you or your team of up to four provide.

The pub quiz is a grand time. Catch it at 8:00 pm sharpish.

Money is also in play, as up to $40 goes into the pot each week. It’s swollen beyond $400 before.

How it works: you get one point for participation; your participation points accrue; and week by week your participation points are added to your final quiz score. Perhaps you score 42 (of a possible 50) and this is your third quiz. You then have a 45 on the aggregate.

When someone scores 50, they win the pot.

Also, yer man Sam Fiske provides some excellent jazz an hour before and 30 minutes after the quiz. It’s a little thing we call Sam’s Sandwich.

Overall, it’s a fantastic way to spend a Sunday eve. Casual, loads of laughs, and a bit of smarts. Get yourself a pie and a pint and enjoy.

Second Thursday This Month

Due to the Fourth of July weekend, we’re moving this month’s Single-Malt Scotch Tasting to the second Thursday. This will be only a July thing. The Whisky Wench, Fiona, will return with the spirits to host again on Thursday, July 1o, at 7:30 pm. She’ll guide you through four to five grand pours. More details (including a possible theme) soon.

5-Course Dinners & Private Parties

Pub food is not confined to pub staples such as burgers, fish and chips, and cottage pie. It’s no different with food than with spirits. For example, we serve up a huge selection of coveted single-malt scotches to break it up from the old stand-bys used so often in mixed drinks.

Merlins Rest now offers five-course dinners for couples on Monday nights at 6:00 pm. For full details on price and dinner plans, please contact John Dingley at +1 651 271 0202.

Also, please know that Merlins will be happy to cater to private parties outside our usual open hours. A minimum of 12 individuals with ten days notice and $10.00 a head deposit is required.

Please contact John Dingley for further information: +1 651 271 0202.
