June 13: Friday the 13th! Knitting Needles! Celts!

Tonight: Live Celtic Music
Time: 9:00 pm

Zounds! It’s Friday the 13th! This reminds me that I grew up in a town named Crystal Lake. The Friday the 13th movies were all set at a Camp Crystal Lake. (Well, Jason Takes Manhattan wasn’t set there, nor was that one in space–number ten, I believe–but you understand.) Still, I never associated one (the town) with the other (the movie camp name). I did find the librarian with the last name Vorhees to be a bit suspicious, though.

It wasn’t until I was maybe 18 and cashing a check that someone (the teller) pointed it out to me. “Like the movie!” she said. “Creepy.”

“Yeah,” I said, clueless. Later, it was explained to me.

For those interested in learning more about or just connecting with those who excel at and enjoy knitting, we’ve got a wonderful group coming into the pub this afternoon and early evening, 4:00 – 7:00 pm. It’s the Crafty in Minnesota group. It’s not unusual to find 20 or 25 of them pulling together tables and having a few pints and loads of laughs. And it is loads of laughs.

Grand stuff, and great photos with John Dingley!

In the meantime, check out Ravelry.com. It’s a fantastic resource for knitting and a nicely managed and designed website.

Tonight we invite up the session musicians. It’s Friday, and what better way to celebrate the weekend than with a bit of traditional music to spirit us along?

Join us around 9:00 pm to hear the music, but join us whenever you like just to enjoy the evening.

Get a pie and a pint, and cheers to ye!
