March 26: Specialist Quiz

Tonight: Specialist Pub Quiz
Time: 7:30 pm

You never know what will be birthed from the mind of John Dingley, but it’s safe to say it boggles other minds. Tonight take part in our new Specialist Pub Quiz. It’s very much like our weekly Sunday Night Pub Quiz, only we reserve Sundays for general matters and Wednesdays for specific topics. Previous specialist quizzes have focused on the American Civil War and the cinema.

What does tonight hold? I’d love to tell you but John has neglected to tell me! Perhaps he’s being a cleverboots.

Prizes? You better believe it. All participants receive one point for each quiz attended. Those attendance points are added to your final score and the first person to 50 wins the kitty. Each week John puts up to $40 in. So if you score 44 points and this is your sixth quiz, you have an aggregate of 50. You win the money! Whenever someone wins the pot, everyone’s attendance points are reset to zero, so you’re never too far off the pace.

So join us tonight at 7:30 pm.

IRISH DANCING

Special thanks to Paul for sending along the following announcement about Irish dancing in the Twin Cities and coming here to Merlins Rest:

Lóma Mór Irish Dance Club announces a series of three spring-into-summer fundraising special events. Lively Irish dance music (jigs, reels, hornpipes, and more) at all three events will be provided by some of the Twin Cities finest traditional Irish musicians.

Event #1 will be held Wednesday, April 9 at Merlins Rest, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.

We will hold a benefit céilí dance with lessons in basic steps at 6:30. Interspersed, intermingled, and intertwined with the dances will be the always entertaining and sometimes rewarding Wednesday night pub quiz with mind-expanding questions on the topic of the week, tba. Wizard hats are optional.

The suggested donation will be $5 to join the dancing, but there will be no admittance charge asked of those coming only for the usual attractions of the regular weekly pub quiz, good food, and fine beverages.

Thanks, Paul. See you then!
