March 17: St. Patrick’s Day!

Irish Pubs and St. Patrick's Day in MinneapolisIt’s St. Patrick’s Day!

Perhaps you thought the fun ended after Saturday? WRONG! We’ve lots going on for the holiday proper, friends. Celebrate with a special Monday brunch (8:00 am – 12:00 pm) featuring traditional Irish fare.

At 11 am, we’ll have a whisky toast with our “Whisky Wench,” Fiona. And believe me, we’ve got lots of tasty whisky to choose from. In fact, we have the Twin Cities’ largest selection of single malts. But we’ve also plenty of Irish blended whiskys if you prefer to stay on that side of things with your Paddy’s toast. Check out our impressive stock on the Food and Drink page.

During the afternoon, Wild Bill Watkins, our publican John Dingley, and local Irish dance leader Eileen Dahill take over.

At 4 pm, a mini ceili session will take place.Irish Pubs and St. Patrick's Day in Minneapolis

From 5:00 – 6:30 pm, Misplaced will provide the sounds.

From 6:45 – 7:45 pm, there will be an Open Mic Best Singer and Story Teller contest with PRIZES!

From 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm (and possibly a later set), the all-girl Irish music sensation “Garrigans Quarrel” will rule the roost. This includes from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm the Giggin Sheilas.

As for food in the afternoon and evening, we’ll serve up Irish Stew, Corned beef and Cabbage, Leak and Potato Stew, Irish Lamb, Bratwurst and more. Happy days, indeed! Join the hoolie, friends.

We have many groups who meet here. They might take over a few tables, that sort of thing. And most often they are open to all who share their interests. This coming week, three more happenings are of note:

* Wednesday, March 19 – 7:00-9:00 PMThe Druids Grove is gathering! If you’ve an interest in the spiritual path of druidry, this group welcomes you. They meet here monthly, and their discussions are free and open to all. Stop up and make some new friends.

* Thursday, March 20 – 6:00 PM – The Birds & the Beers returns! Even if your interest in birding is only casual, even if you know little beyond the cardinal and the robin, spend a little time with this group. Great fun, great stories. Learn about locations for birding, technological wonders to use in the field, etc.

* Friday, March 21 – Clann Tartan‘s Night at the Pub! It’s our weekly Kilt Night, and being the third Friday of the month, it’s also Clann Tartan’s night out. If you’ve got a kilt, by all means wear it and get to know this living history group. Or just join in the revelry. Live Celtic music accompanies, per usual.
