March 15: Parade Day & Merlins in the Eve

Irish Pubs in Minneapolis - Merlins RestHappy days to you! All of us here at Merlins hope that you are enjoying this extended St. Patrick’s Day celebration. So: our neighbors in the good city of St. Paul are holding the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with the Shamrock Queen, Megan Kelly. We wish her congratulations on the honor. Slainte!

But after the fun winds down in St. Paul, get on over the Merlins Rest where the rest of us are gathering to celebrate the holiday as requested by the Catholic Church: on a weekend! We’ll also have plenty of fun on Monday, of course, but today is packed with good cheer.

In addition to the expected revelry and Irish fun, two things of note for the evening:

* Our good friends from Finnegan’s will arrive on the Finnegan’s bus. This annual tour of good will and tasty pints is loads of fun. We love to have ’em here, and we hope you’ll get to know ’em. Great craic.

* We’ve also got the Hot Club of East Lake in the pub with Papa John at 9 pm. So it’s going to be a spirited Saturday.

SUNDAY PUB QUIZIrish Pubs and St. Patrick's Day in Minneapolis

Don’t forget! We’ve got brunch being served from 9 am – 2 pm on Sunday and we’re holding the weekly pub quiz at 8 pm sharpish with our Welsh publican John Dingley. He’s a right fine tenor too. Maybe you can shake a song out of him?

MONDAY, ST. PATRICK’S DAY

We’ve loads going on Monday, March 17. It all kicks off with a special St. Patrick’s Day brunch and an early whisky toast. Read more about it in yesterday’s post or on our Events page.
