Wednesday: Jams, Readings, Bands & Single Malts

The middle of the week has pounced upon us! It’s also the beginning of Lent for many, so if you’re into giving up something, I’d give up the ridiculous notion that one must sit in on weeknights and only venture out on weekends. Life should not be divided into such soul-crushing phases.

Join us tonight for a bit of community fun as we hold the weekly folk jam with our man Bill Watkins and a host of friends who happen to walk about with musical instruments. They’ll take a seat up front in the pub, sans microphone, and provide a bit of music…when, that is, we can stop them from telling stories with people around the bar!

It’s a great time, these Wednesdays. I hope you’ll add your voice to the revelry…or at least to the Nameless Read-Aloud Club.

Wednesday, February 6, 6:00-8:30 PM – The Nameless Read-Aloud Club will meet to eat, drink and read to each other. Got a favorite passage from a novel? or a poem you revere? All are welcomed to listen and/or read. Member Mary L. reports that “Last month we especially cherished the readings by Shannon Brennan and Cyn Collins! We tend to laugh alot louder than we read and it’s a very good time.”

And look who we spotted on recently! It’s Liam Watkins of the band First Communion Afterparty. Liam is the son of our very own Bill Watkins. Check out Michael Metzger’s write up (and please accept my apologies for being five days late in posting this link).

The monthly Single-Malt Whisky Tasting will take place at 7:30 PM on Thursday, February 7. Flat fee of $25 to participate, and four or five grand pours provided. Come sample our stock along with other pub patrons with an appreciation for this old art. Bring your friends or make new ones! Celtic music provided free for all.
