Friday: Kilt Up!

It’s Kilt Night, good people of Mpls-St. Paul (and surrounding environs), and as is our tradition in this British Isles pub we’re holding a Kilt Night. So don your tartan, your blackwatch, your sporran. If you’ve got the garb and gear, wear it. If not, no worries. You can either talk to our man Bill Watkins about getting your own, or you can just join in the merriment as you are.

The Celtic session players are invited up, as always, and the food is hot and the pints are tasty. It’s Friday night: make it a good one. Join us for laughs, live music and the all-around hoolie.

And, hey: Pop out and have some fun tonight to celebrate the return of the Six Nations rugby tournament! The action starts up again tomorrow morning (US time)…right about the time you’ll be having a spot of brunch at Merlins, eh?

See you soon!

WAY POINTS

* We were sad to read that the Kitty Hive beekeeping experiment of our very own Birdchick didn’t survive the winter. For those of you who have followed the hive stories, check out this episode from September . It’s all about putting powder sugar on bees…and for a reason other than gastronomy. A very interesting read.

* Dara Mokcowitz, long-time food critic for the City Pages and just a fantastic anecdote writer has left the publication. Her last entry is posted here.

* MinnPost: Have you checked it out yet? The MinnPost.com news site–sort of a public radio model–is really quite good. We’re fans.

* The New Shrew Review – It’s rather odd when new mammals are discovered in this electronically blanketed, GPS-oriented world. But a team of researchers working in Tanzania have discovered an odd and new type of sengi. It’s referred to as an elephant shrew, but those are actually not related to shrews. (They just resemble them.) But take a look at this flexi-nosed, cat-sized beast! No worries, dear Python fans. The Holy Hand Grenade shall not be needed.
